Alternatives

Fantastical alternatives, and what each one is

Fantastical is a calendar app, and a very complete one. Three of these four are calendars too. TimeLoop is the odd one out: a planner that sits on top of the calendar you keep.

Why people look for one

Flexibits’ own pages show where the edges are. Fantastical runs on Apple devices, Windows and Googlebook; support for Android phones is announced for 2027. Its free version adds events and tasks in natural language and has widgets, while travel time, time-to-leave notifications, the Apple Watch app and the ten-day forecast are part of Flexibits Premium, a subscription.

And it is a calendar. A task sits on its due date and carries over when it is overdue; finding an hour for it is up to you.

4 to look at

Each one, in its own terms.

1

TimeLoop

The day planned from a sentence ours

Who places the tasks
A scheduler, around your fixed events and the way to them; you confirm. Planning from a sentence is Pro, by hand is free
Calendars
Reads the calendars on your phone and Google Calendar as fixed events, and writes your plan into its own “TimeLoop” calendar; free
With other people
Circles joined by a link, a shared list in each, finding a time everyone is free
Where it runs
iPhone and Android phones (coming soon to both stores). No iPad, Mac, watch or web app
Free and paid
A free version; Pro monthly or yearly. On the App Store the yearly plan starts with a free week

Pick it if you like what Fantastical does with natural language, travel time and weather, but want the tasks without a time placed for you, or you are on Android. Not if you want a calendar app to replace the one you have: TimeLoop is not one.

2

BusyCal

A customisable calendar for Mac and iPhone

Who places the tasks
You do. Events and tasks are typed in natural language; a task shows on its due date and carries forward until done
Calendars
Syncs with the calendar services you already use, and its tasks with Reminders
With other people
Through your calendar accounts; the page we read describes no sharing of its own
Where it runs
Mac and iPhone
Free and paid
A free 14-day trial, then a purchase; also part of Setapp

Pick it if you want a calendar you can shape to your liking on a Mac, with travel time, an eight-day weather forecast and tasks beside your events.

3

Notion Calendar

A free calendar tied to Notion

Who places the tasks
You do. It is a calendar, with the dated items of your Notion databases shown beside your events
Calendars
Google Calendar, Outlook and iCloud-synced calendars
With other people
Scheduling links that let others book time with you
Where it runs
iPhone and Android, with widgets on both, and macOS and Windows
Free and paid
Free

Pick it if you already work in Notion and want its deadlines beside your meetings, at no cost, on Android as well as iPhone.

4

Morgen

A calendar app with an AI planner

Who places the tasks
Its AI Planner recommends where tasks go, inside the week you have laid out; you accept or adjust
Calendars
Google, Outlook, Apple, Fastmail and more in one app, with travel time and buffers blocked for you
With other people
Booking links, colleagues’ availability, and team plans priced per seat
Where it runs
Windows, macOS, Linux, the web and mobile
Free and paid
A 14-day free trial, then a subscription, monthly or yearly

Pick it if you plan at a desk, your tasks live in tools such as Notion, Todoist or Linear, and you want suggestions you approve.

Or stay

When Fantastical is still the best choice

You want the calendar itself done very well, on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Vision Pro and Windows: many kinds of calendar account in one place, scheduling links and meeting polls, conference calls joined with one click, fourteen widgets, a ten-day forecast, in eight languages. TimeLoop is not a calendar app and replaces none of that.

As of October 2026. What is said about each planner comes from its own website, help centre or store listing; if it has changed since, their pages are right. They belong to their makers and have nothing to do with TimeLoop. The order is ours: TimeLoop first because this is its website, the rest by how close they are to Fantastical.

TimeLoop

Your day.
Planned for you.

You say what has to happen. TimeLoop keeps the fixed things where they are and finds a time for the rest.

TimeLoop

Where TimeLoop differs.

It decides when

A calendar shows what has a time. TimeLoop gives a time to what has none, around the events that do, and you confirm.

The way and the weather

With Pro: when to leave from where you are, and the forecast at the place, on every event that has one.

A late day, planned again

Tap how late you are and the rest of today is placed again, with before and after side by side.

A calendar or a planner?

A calendar app shows and edits what is in your calendar accounts: it is where an invitation is answered and a meeting is moved. Fantastical, BusyCal and Notion Calendar are that, and Morgen is that with a planner that suggests where tasks go.

TimeLoop does not replace your calendar. It reads it, treats what is in it as fixed, and plans everything else around it, then writes that plan into a calendar of its own, which your calendar app shows like any other. It is used beside a calendar app, not in its place.

Questions

Asked before you asked.

Is there a Fantastical alternative for Android?

Of the four on this page, Notion Calendar, Morgen and TimeLoop run on Android phones. Flexibits says Fantastical itself is coming to Android phones in 2027.

Which Fantastical alternatives are free?

Notion Calendar is free. TimeLoop has a free version, with planning from a sentence, travel time and weather in Pro. BusyCal and Morgen have free trials. Fantastical has a free version of its own.

Which have travel time and weather?

BusyCal describes travel time with alerts and an eight-day forecast. Morgen blocks travel time. TimeLoop measures the way and shows the forecast at the place, with Pro. In Fantastical, travel time and time to leave are part of Premium.

Which run on a Mac or on Windows?

BusyCal on the Mac; Notion Calendar and Morgen on both. TimeLoop runs on phones only.

Does TimeLoop understand natural language like Fantastical?

Differently. Fantastical turns a typed sentence into one event or task. TimeLoop, with Pro, reads a sentence with several things in it and a scheduler finds the times for those that have none.

Where do these facts come from?

From each app’s own website or store listing, read in October 2026. If something has changed since, their pages are right and this one is out of date.

Your day, figured out.

Say what you need to do. See your life fall into place.
